Students & teachers may wear Halloween costumes to school on Friday, October 29, 2021.  Below are rules that will allow for a fun day without disrupting the learning environment:

  • Costumes must conform to the Briarcliff Middle School Dress Code.
  • Students/Staff will still need to wear an appropriate face covering for the purposes of limiting the transmission of viruses. A Halloween mask does not  replace this.
  • Costumes may not be demeaning to any ethnic group, race, religion, nationality, disabilities, gender or individual student or staff member at the school. (HIB Policy)
  • No weapons, toy weapons, or props replicating weapons, are to be brought to school.
  • No costumes are allowed that would completely hide the identity of the student, i.e. gorilla suit, “Scream” character.
  • Costumes may not have parts that interfere with learning.  This means no masks or costumes that restrict movement or vision, prevent sitting at desks, or prevent participation in physical education class.
  • Costumes must not obstruct movement in the hallways.
  • No scary clown costumes/masks.
