Robotics News!


  • 04/15/20:  To better support online learning, VEX robotics has pushed up their timeline and delivered an online robotics learning environment that allows programming of several pre-built, virtual robots.  Students can program the robots and see the results immediately on a virtual field. Mr. Stoloff attended a webinar about the product and developed assignments based on templates that VEX provided.  Both his 6th and 7th grade classes used this new environment this week, and students in the robotics elective will be using it in a few weeks.   • 02/10/20:  Last weekend Briarcliff Robotics teams, The King Robots and 2 Ft., competed well.  Both teams had very good driver skills. Each team had a great second half and consistently scored well.  The best round was the last team match, which paired both Briarcliff teams helping each other make the finals.  All around a great day. Congratulations to these teams on a great end to the season.



  • 01/14/20:  Briarcliff Robotics Club fielded four teams at this Saturday's McManus Middle School tournament with 29 total teams.  Team D won the Teamwork Challenge and qualified for the state championship!  Team D consists of Harry Joelsson, Liam Janson, Max Kahn, & Logan Ash.  Please wish them congratulations!  The other three teams performed very well, improving their scores from the last event.  Team B achieved the fifth best individual score and is very likely to get an at-large bid to the state championship.  Team B consists of Bailey Austin, Andrew Matty, AJ Wenzel, & Kyle Wenzel.  Team F achieved the seventh best individual score and is currently in the top ten scores in the state.  Team F consists of Mason Austin, Aaron Gellert, and Aditya Saha & Tyler Wills from RVS.  Additional mention goes to Team C's Jack Fitch, Yash Samat, Siraj Sheikh, and Anthony Wu who showed significant improvement.  Look for our tropy in the new second floor trophy case outside of the MakerSpace Lab!

  • 12/10/19:  Congratulations to the Briarcliff Robotics team Team 11588A Cool Name Pending on qualifying for the VEX IQ league championship.  The team consists of Harry Joelsson, Liam Janson, Max Kahn, Ivan Lee & Logan Ash.  The minimum qualifying skills score for middle school was 81 points, which ranks all qualifying teams in the top 25% of the world at this point.  The championship is held this Saturday, 12/14, from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. at new Providence High School.
