Robotics Club

The Briarcliff Robotics Club uses the VEX IQ robotics platform to give students a chance to build and program a robot to accomplish a given challenge that changes every year. Students work in teams of between three to four members and compete in several competition events hosted at various NJ schools. Each event is independent of the others and offers the opportunity to qualify for the State Championship. The season begins in the fall and continues through at least January, longer if teams qualify for the State/World Championships. There are three components of each competition: driver (remote controlled), autonomous (programming controlled), and team challenge (remote controlled via random pairings with other teams to cooperatively attempt the challenge). Students keep an engineering journal of the important design choices made during the process.
